Art Swap!

When my talented artist friend Amber Frederick and I decided to do an art swap, I couldn't wait!  I have been dying to get my hands on one of her pieces.  We thought it would be fun to come up with a specific theme for the swap so we decided upon "Prehistoric" as our subject matter.
This was such a great project!  Knowing Amber's amazing creativity level and fun loving spirit, I knew I could have a blast with making this piece, and I did! This is a nod to our gone but not forgotten friend, the Brontosaurus.

How cool is her work!? She just had a showing at Beats & Bohos in Seattle and showcased some of the most amazingly creative art.  I love how each of her pieces holds a story.  She is such a thoughtful artist, making believable stories with multiple levels of detail and description.  Her work truly inspires me and I can't wait to see what she does next!

Please check out more of her artwork.  It's definitely worth owning a couple of her pieces:

Pescatore 18x24 2007

How can I not love this guy? Pescatore was the first piece I created and inspired me to work with recycled materials.
Although elementary in matter, I fell in love with the way the golds, reds and purple foils relate to each other.

Sometimes I consider myself more of a color theorist than an artist because I rely on what colors I obtain and don't produce any color myself.
I found the pixels intriguing and focused on a pointillism approach to my subject.
